Lite-On Technology Cooperates With Tsinghua Unigroup to Seize the Data Center and Cloud Computing Opportunity in China

Taiwanese PC storage devices provider Lite-On Technology recently announced that Chinese Tsinghua Unigroup in China will invest USD$45 million to help Lite-On establish a new subsidiary in Suzhou, according to United Daily News on December 13. Upon completion, Lite-On's Suzhou subsidiary will be expanded to US$100 million, in which Tsinghua Unigroup and Lite-On will hold a 55% and 45% stake, accordingly. The agreement is to remain valid for 20 years after Lite-On's subsidiary obtain an official license for operation. The new plant will kick off the construction in early 2018 and begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2018. Pursuant to the agreement, Tsinghua Unigroup will be dedicated to promoting and customer relations taking advantage of its strong connections in China, while Lite-On is to concentrate on the development of supply chain and contract manufacturing.
